Abstrak

Income and business feasibility are one factors that underline farmers to run a business and will affect the
sustainability of their agribusiness and the level of farmers' welfare. This study aims to determine the level of welfare of
farmers based on the income of papaya farming in Palas Village, Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City. The study was
conducted on February 2021. The sampling method used the census method. Data was collected through survey
activities or observations and interviews. The data were analyzed to determine the total cost, revenue, income and
eligibility as well as the level of welfare. Income is multiplied by the number of family members which is then compared
with the poverty line of Pekanbaru City and Pekanbaru City Minimum Wage (UMK) based on BPS (Badan Pusat
Statistik) Pekanbaru, as a welfare index. The results showed that farmers' income from papaya farming in Palas was
Rp. 3,452,358,-/capita/month for an average land area of 0.25-1 Ha and an average number of dependents of 3-4
people, this figure crossed the urban poverty line. Pekanbaru is Rp. 516,368, - per capita and the UMK (City Minimum
Wage) Pekanbaru is Rp. 2,997,972. All papaya farming is feasible to continue with the results of the feasibility analysis
or R/C (Return Cost Ratio) an average of 1.23 with the welfare level of papaya farmers entirely above the poverty line
with 65% or more than half of the total respondents belonging to the affluent group or class and prosperous
