The Successness of Durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) Grafting Using Coconut Water as Plant Growth Regulator

Abstrak

The vegetative propagation of durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) can be effectively achieved through grafting techniques, with the application of growth regulatory substances to enhance shoot growth. This study aimed to determine the optimal concentration of coconut water for supporting the growth of durian shoot grafting. Conducted between January and March 2023 at the Pekanbaru Horticulture Seed Center, the research utilized a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with five levels of coconut water concentration (P0=0%, P1=25%, P2=50%, P3=75%, P4=100%), each replicated five times. Parameters assessed included grafting success rate, bud break time, leaf count, length of the longest leaf, and width of the widest leaf. Results indicate that the application of 100% concentration of coconut water significantly accelerated bud break, resulted in the highest leaf count, and produced the longest and widest leaves. Therefore, it is recommended to utilize a 75% concentration of coconut water as a growth regulator in durian propagation via grafting.
