Abstrak

Coffee husks and solid decanter are agricultural waste materials. The use of EM4 as an activator can accelerate the composting process and enhance the quality of the compost. This study aimed to analyze the chemical properties of compost made from coffee husks and solid decanter using EM4, following the SNI 19-7030-2004 standards. The research was conducted from May to June 2024 at PT Asam Jawa, Torgamba District, South Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Province. A completely randomized design was applied with four EM4 dosage treatments: P0 = Without EM4, P1 = EM4 1%, P2 = EM4 2%, and P3 = EM4 3%. Observed parameters included C-Organic, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, C/N ratio, and pH. The findings indicate that the application of 3% EM4 significantly improves chemical quality, meeting the SNI 19-7030-2004 standards for parameters such as C-Organic, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, C/N ratio, and pH. Therefore, the 3% EM4 treatment is concluded to be the optimal condition for producing high-quality compost from coffee husks and solid decanter.
