Abstrak

Lamtoro has a hard seed coat that makes it difficult to germinate. One of the efforts to break dormancy in
lamtoro seeds is using H2SO4. This study aimed to obtain the best concentration of H2SO4 for breaking the dormancy of
lamtoro seed. This research has been carried out in the Laboratory of Agronomy and Agrostology as well as in the
experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science, Islamic State University of Sultan Syarif Kasim
Riau. The study was conducted from January to March 2021. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized
Design (CRD) and 5 replications, namely the concentration of H2SO4 (0, 15, 30, 45%, 60%, 75% and 90%).
Parameters observed were germination, growth speed, vigor index, maximum growth potential, seedling height, and
root length. The results showed that soaking the seeds at various concentrations of H2SO4 could increase germination,
growth speed, vigor index, and maximum growth potential. 75% H2SO4 immersion was the best concentration for
germination, growth speed, vigor index, and maximum growth potential.
