PENGARUH KONSENTRASI DAN LAMA PERENDAMAN GIBERELIN TERHADAP PEMATAHAN DORMANSI KOPI LIBERIKA (Coffea liberica Hiern)

Liberica coffee germination takes a long time because Liberica coffee beans have a hard seed coat so water
and oxygen are difficult to penetrate the seed coat which causes the germination process to be hampered. One of the
efforts to break dormancy in liberica coffee seeds is to use GA3 to accelerate seed germination. This study aimed to
obtain the best concentration of GA3 and soaking time, as well as the interaction between the two treatments on the
germination of liberica coffee seeds. This research has been carried out at the Laboratory of Agronomy and
Agrostology, of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science, State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau.
The study was conducted from February to March 2022. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD)
consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is the concentration of GA3 (0%, 25%, 50%,75%), and the second factor is the
immersion time (6,12, and 24 hours). Parameters observed were germination, vigor index, germination height, root
length, wet weight of sprouts, and dry weight of sprouts. The results showed that the use of GA3 concentration was the
best treatment for germination (88.20%), vigor index (2.60%), sprout height (8.40 cm), and liberica coffee root length
(7.51 cm), soaking time did not affect liberica coffee germination, and there is no significant effect and interaction on
the parameters of wet weight and dry weight. There was no interaction between the concentration and immersion time
of GA3 on the parameters of germination, vigor index, germination height, root length, wet weight, and dry weight.
