Rice plant is a rice-producing plant whose availability is needed as a staple food for Indonesian people.
Factors that affect the level of rice production are very important to note, one of which is disease. Athelia sp. is the
main disease that causes stem rot in rice plants which results in decreased yields. Trichoderma is a fungus that has
antagonistic properties, one of which is T. harzianum, T. viride, and T. koningii. This study aims to compare the
effectiveness of several species of the genus Trichoderma sp. in inhibiting the growth of Athelia sp. in vitro. This
research was conducted in October-November 2021 at the Laboratory of Pathology, Entomology, Microbiology and
Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University, Riau. This
study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments (control, Athelia sp. against T. harzianum, Athelia sp.
against T. viride, and Athelia sp. against T. Koningii. The results showed that the Growth Rate and Inhibitory Power of
the treatment with Trichoderma spp. significantly different from the treatment without Trichoderma spp. Isolates of T.
harzianum, T. viride, and T. koningii were very effective in inhibiting the growth of Athelia sp. which causes stem rot
disease in rice plants with an inhibitory percentage of > 90%.
