Cultivation Techniques and Risk Analysis of People's Oil Palm Farming Business in Bencah Kelubi Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency

Oil palm farming in Bencah Kelubi Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency is one of the livelihoods and sources of income for farmers. This study aims to describe the applied community oil palm cultivation techniques, to determine the risks experienced in oil palm farming and efforts to reduce the risks of oil palm farming in Bencah Kelubi Village. The type of research conducted is descriptive and quantitative research. The method used is the observation method and direct interviews with farmers. Sampling was carried out by Simple Random Sampling as many as 40 farmers. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The data needed in the study include farmer identity data, cultivation techniques, production facility costs, marketing prices and risks faced. The data were obtained from respondents using a questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the oil palm cultivation techniques applied by farmers in Bencah Kelubi Village were not in accordance with the recommendations of the Plantation, Livestock and Animal Health Service of Kampar Regency. The risks faced by farmers in Bencah Kelubi Village are cost risk, production risk and income risk. As well as efforts made by farmers to reduce risk by forming institutional development to increase the capacity of the role of field extension workers and strengthening a financial institution. From the results of the analysis, the risk to oil palm farming production and income is relatively low.
