GAMBARAN ERITROSIT, LEUKOSIT DAN HEMOGLOBIN AYAM KAMPUNG YANG DIPELIHARA DI DAERAH TROPIS : STUDI KASUS KECAMATAN BUNGA RAYA KABUPATEN SIAK PROVINSI RIAU

Description of Erythrocytes, Leukocytes, and Hemoglobin of Kampung Chickens Raised in Tropical Areas: A Case Study of Bunga Raya District, Siak Regency, Riau Province

Abstrak

Kampung chicken was the Indonesian native genetic resource that has been reared at highlands and lowlands. Bunga Raya is one of the areas in Riau Province that has hot climates, where the  temperature during the day is around 25-32°C.  The aim of the study was to determine the hematological profile of kampung chickens reared in hot tropical climates by conducting a case study in Bunga Raya, Siak, Riau Province. The study used 35 adult kampung chickens. Parameters in the study were erythrocyte, leukocyte and hemoglobin. The results showed that the consentrations of the erythrocytes was 2.38±0.01 x 106/mm3, the leukocyte was 17.26±0.5 x 103/mm3, and the hemoglobin was 10.85±0.3 g/dL, those three blood parameters were in the normal range. Based on the blood profile in this study, it could be concluded that the kampung chickens have adapted to the hot climate of the tropics.
