Field Study of Management of Concentrate Feeding for Coastal Cattle at BPTU HPT Padang Mengatas Using a Model in Pastures

Abstrak

The aim of this field study was to determine the effect of administering concentrate using the sowing method on grazing land on increasing the body weight of coastal cattle at the Padang Mengatas Superior Livestock and Forage Center (BPTU-HPT). Data collection was carried out using a survey method through direct observation in the field and through interviews with BPTU-HPT Padang Menas employees and staff. Observations made during the field study showed that the management of concentrate feeding for coastal cattle at BPTU HPT Padang Atas using the pasture grazing model provides concentrate by sprinkling it on pasture grass. The parameter observed was body weight gain in coastal cattle. Data obtained from the results of weighing the body weight of coastal cattle is an average body weight gain (PBB) of 0.255kg/day. The results of field studies show that the management of concentrate feed given to coastal cattle on grazing land is poor and does not provide sufficient animal nutrition.
