Hypertension is a high blood pressure in the blood flow through the arteries that occurs mostly in middle adulthood. Hypertension can be influenced by several factors, including knowledge and sodium intake. This study aims to analyze the correlation between knowledge and sodium intake with the incidence of hypertension in Jaya Mukti Village, Dumai City. This study used a cross-sectional design with 61 respondents selected through accidental sampling technique. Data were collected through a knowledge questionnaire, Food Frequency Questionnaire Semi-Quantitative (FFQ-SQ) for sodium intake, and blood pressure measurement using a digital sphygmomanometer. Data were analyzed bivariate using the Chi-Square test. The results of this research showed that 59% of respondents had a low level of knowledge, 16,4% had a moderate level of knowledge, and 24.6% had a good level of knowledge. A total of 62.3% of respondents consumed excessive amounts of sodium, while 37.7% consumed adequate amounts of sodium. of the total respondents, 62.3% had hypertension, while 37.7% did not have hypertension. Chi-Square test results showed that there was a correlation between knowledge and the incidence of hypertension, with a p value of 0.000 (p < 0.1). In addition, there is a correlation between sodium intake and the incidence of hypertension with a p value of 0.000 (p < 0.1) and an OR value of 77.778. The results of this study showed that there was a correlation between knowledge and sodium intake on the occurrence of hypertension on middle age in Jaya Mukti Village, Dumai City.
