Application of Shell Liquid Smoke Concentration Oil Palm Fruit to Press Growth Ganoderma Orbiforme (Fr.) Ryvarden in Pre-Nursery

Abstrak

Ganoderma orbiforme (Fr.) Ryvarden is a pathogen that causes stem rot which has a fatal impact on oil palm plants. An environmentally friendly control alternative can be to use plant-based fungicides. One of them is the liquid smoke of oil palm fruit shells. This study aims to obtain an effective concentration of liquid smoke in suppressing the growth of Ganoderma orbiforme (Fr.) Ryvarden in the pre-nursery. This research has been carried out at the laboratory of Pathology, Entomology, Microbiology, and Soil Science and at Laboratory of UIN Agriculture Research Development Station (UARDS) Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science, Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau State Islamic University from May to August 2024. This study used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replicates. Liquid fumes are applied 14 days after infection of the pathogen to the plant, with concentrations of 0%, 2%, 4% and 6%. The research parameters included the intensity of disease attack, plant height, seedling diameter, and root crown ratio. Liquid smoke of oil palm fruit shells at a concentration of 6% has the potential to suppress the growth of Ganoderma orbiforme (Fr.) Ryvarden in pre-nursery with an efficacy rate of 44.4% (quite effective).
