Toxicity Test Of Liquid Smoke Of Empty Oil Palm Bunches To Control Rhinoceros Beetle Larvae Palm Oil In Vitro
Abstrak
Oil palm horn beetle larvae are very harmful pests because they can cause a decrease in oil palm production. The use of synthetic insecticides creates pesticide residues that can have a negative impact on consumer health. Liquid smoke of empty oil palm fruit bunches has the potential as an insecticide against the larvae of the oil palm rhinoceros beetle. This study aims to determine the effective concentration of liquid smoke from empty oil palm bunches on the mortality of oil palm rhinoceros beetle larvae in vitro. The research was carried out from August to September 2022 at the Laboratory of Pathology, Entomology, Microbiology and Soil Science (PEMTA), Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau State Islamic University. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments with different concentrations (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%) with each treatment being repeated 3 times, so there were 15 experimental units. Parameters observed on the larvae of the oil palm rhinoceros beetle include the initial time of death of the oil palm rhinoceros beetle larvae (hours), daily mortality of the oil palm rhinoceros beetle larvae (%), total mortality (%), lethal time (LT50), and lethal concentration (LC50). . The results showed that the concentration of 8% liquid smoke of empty palm fruit bunches was the best concentration with a mortality percentage of 93.33%, with an initial death time of 56 hours and was quite effective in controlling the oil palm rhinoceros beetle larvae.
