Nutritional Status of HIV/AIDS Patients under Antiretroviral (Arv) Therapy at The RI Sidomulyo Health Center in Tampan District

Abstrak

HIV cases in Riau province increased from 6.767 cases to 8.986 cases. The symptoms of HIV/AIDS patients generally include fever accompanied by mild dizziness, skin rashes all over the body, persistent and growing thrush, and without proper treatment or ARV therapy, they may experience prolonged diarrhea and drastic weight loss, which becomes difficult to improve, ultimately leading to patients with malnutrition or even severe malnutrition. This research to analyze the nutritional status data of HIV/AIDS patients undergoing 2 years of ARV therapy. The research was conducted in July 2024, held at the RI Sidomulyo Health Center in Tampan District, Pekanbaru City. The research used a descriptive analysis method that presented the nutritional status of patients undergoing ART therapy using a time series approach and utilizing secondary data obtained directly from community health centers, which can be accounted for. The population of HIV patients at the RI Sidomulyo Health Center was recorded as 158 patients. Using purposive sampling, the researcher determined the sample criteria for the study, resulting in a sample of 32 patients. Data collection was conducted on these 32 samples to analyze the nutritional status of the patients, which was measured using the BMI method. The results showed that 53% patients had a normal nutritional status, 9% patients had mild undernutrition, 9% patients had severe undernutrition, 18% patients had severe overweight, and 9% patients had mild overweight.
