PELLET PHYSYCAL QUALITY FROM CONCENTRATE SUBSTITUTION WITH MAGGOT (Hermetia illucens) FLOUR AT DIFFERENT LEVELS
Abstrak
Maggot or larvae of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) is one of the organisms that has high potential to be used as an alternative supplementary feed for livestock, namely pellets. This study aims to analyze the physical quality of maggot-based concentrate pellets for cattle. The research was conducted in February 2023-March 2023. This research was carried out experimentally with completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Parameters of research were water content, specific gravity, stack corner, density of the pile and impact resistance. The use of maggot with levels of 5, 10 and 15% in the pellet formulation had a very significant (P<0.01) effect on water content, specific gravity and stack corner, while the use of maggot with levels of 5, 10 and 15% had no significant effect ( P>0.05) on pile density and impact resistance. Pellets containing maggot (Hermetia illucens) at a level of 5-15% can improve the physical quality of the pellets as indicated by the decreased water content, specific gravity, stack corner and does not change the density of the pile and impact resistance. The best treatments is P2 (using 10% maggot).Unduhan
