Economic Analysis of Farming Business and Prospects Development for Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) at Metro Village, Reteh District, Indragiri Hilir Regency.

Abstrak

Developing the agricultural sector through increased income is key to economic analysis in maintaining the sustainability of the coconut plantation. An economic analysis of coconut cultivation is crucial for evaluating the feasibility of this agricultural venture. The purpose of this study was to analyzed the economic aspects of coconut farming and describe its development prospects in Metro Village, Reteh District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with 50 farmer respondents selected using purposive sampling. Primary data were obtained through field observations and direct interviews, while secondary data were collected from relevant institutions and supporting literature. The results indicate economically, the average variable cost incurred was IDR 13.654.660. with total revenue reaching IDR 65,912,000, resulting in a net income of IDR 50.954.340 per growing season. The R/C ratio value of 4.40 indicates that coconut farming in Metro Village is economically feasible and efficient for further development. Coconut cultivation has good development potential, supported by cultivation aspects, farmer social conditions, and very high economic efficiency. The profit margin reaches 77.3% of revenue, and the relatively low break-even point (BEP) of 3,177 kg/year indicates that farmers only need to produce 23% of their total production.
