Abstrak

Pig farming is a very promising livestock commodity to develop. However, there is a problem in the supply of pig feed, namely limited sources of protein feed, which causes price fluctuations, resulting in unstable profits for farmers. Condensed Molasses Solubles (CMS) is a waste product from monosodium glutamate fermentation with a crude protein content of 39.86%, but research on the use of CMS as a protein source for weaned pigs is still limited. This study identified the relationship between protein levels of CMS in feed on feed intake, final weight, and feed conversion in starter pigs. The method of this research uses a completely randomized design (CRD) of 5 treatments and 4 replicates. The treatments used basal feed without treatment is (P0), basal feed 97.5% + CMS 2.5% (P1), basal feed 95% + CMS 5% (P2), basal feed 92.5% + CMS 7.5% (P3), and basal feed 90% + CMS 10% (P4. Data will be analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan's Multi Range Test (DMRT) if differences between treatments are found. Simple linear regression analysis is also used to determine the coefficient of determination for each research variable. Results showed that use of CMS in feed had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on feed consumption and final weight. The best result are shown in P4 based on optimal feed consumption, maximum final weight compared to other treatments and low feed conversion. Most optimal use of CMS for starter pigs is found in the P4 treatment with 10% of CMS.
