ABSTRACT
Oil palm fronds have high fiber and low digestibility; thus, they were mixed with Indigofera zollingeriana and fermented using molasses to improve silage quality. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of molasses addition on the quality of oil palm frond–Indigofera zollingeriana silage. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and five replications was used, consisting of molasses levels of 0%, 1.50%, 3%, 4.50%, and 6% of dry matter. Observed variables included dry matter (DM), dry matter loss (DML), pH, and Fleigh value (FV), analyzed using ANOVA and DMRT at a 5% level. Molasses addition significantly affected DM, DML, pH, and FV. The 6% molasses treatment (P5) produced the best silage quality with the highest DM (31.7±1.28), lowest DML (3.32±1.28), lowest pH (4.31±0.71), and highest FV (98.9±0.71).

ABSTRAK
Pelepah kelapa sawit memiliki serat tinggi dan kecernaan rendah, sehingga dicampur dengan Indigofera zollingeriana dan difermentasi menggunakan molases untuk meningkatkan kualitas silase. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan molases terhadap kualitas silase campuran pelepah kelapa sawit dan Indigofera zollingeriana. Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan lima ulangan digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu penambahan molases 0%, 1,50%, 3%, 4,50%, dan 6% dari bahan kering. Peubah yang diamati meliputi bahan kering (BK), kehilangan bahan kering (KBK), pH, dan nilai Fleigh (NF), dianalisis dengan ANOVA dan uji DMRT 5%. Hasil penelitian ini, penambahan molases berpengaruh nyata terhadap kandungan BK, kehilangan BK, pH, serta nilai Fleigh silase. Perlakuan P5 dengan dosis molases 6% BK menghasilkan nilai BK tertinggi (31,7±1,28), kehilangan bahan kering terendah (3,32±1,28), pH paling rendah (4,31±0,71), dan nilai Fleigh tertinggi (98,9±0,71).. Perlakuan terbaik diperoleh pada 6% molases dengan BK tertinggi, KBK terendah, pH terendah, dan NF tertinggi.
