Improving Nutrition Students' Competence At UIN Suska Riau Through Stunted Children Assistance In The Work Area Of Sidomulyo Inpatient Clinic, Pekanbaru

Abstrak

Reducing the prevalence of wasting and stunting in children is a primary target of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2020-2024. Providing support to families with children at risk of stunting has proven to be an effective strategy for empowering the community. This article aims to assess the effectiveness of a nutrition support program in enhancing the competence of students in the Nutrition Program at the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (Fapertapet), UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. This program involves the assistance of stunted children by nutrition students in the work area of the Sidomulyo Inpatient Clinic in Pekanbaru. The research methodology employed is qualitative, with data collection methods including document analysis, observation, and semi-structured interviews.The findings indicate that the program of assisting stunted children has increased the competence of the students and enhanced their knowledge, skills, and practical experience in dealing with stunted children. The students demonstrated that they gained a better understanding of the importance of monitoring and managing nutrition in stunted children, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and the influence of socioeconomic factors on malnutrition. This paper concludes that the assistance provided by nutrition students to stunted children at primary healthcare centers is an effective approach to enhance their competence. Further studies on the long-term effects of the program and the assessment of children's nutritional outcomes are recommended.
