Differences in the Growth of Green and Purple Stem Moringa Plants as Male Herbal Chili Plants

Abstrak

Moringa (Moringa oleifera Lamk) in Indonesia grows in rural areas, but has not been utilized optimally. Moringa plants are only planted in home gardens to fulfill consumption needs, as climbing herbs for chilies, and as land borders. Until now, Moringa plants are still rarely cultivated well and intensively, even though if you look at the market demand for Moringa plants, especially the leaves, there is very much demand for export abroad. The aim of this research is to determine the growth of Moringa plants with green and purple stalks as climbing herbs and without herbal chilies. This research was carried out in September 2024 by exploring Moringa plants in Moringa gardens or herbal chili production centers that use climbing Moringa plants in Pekandangan Sangra Village, Bluto District, Sumenep Regency. Data were collected by means of exploration and observation by direct observation in the Moringa garden, the center for planting herbal chilies. The growth and production of green and purple stalked Moringa plants is influenced by the plant's genetic characteristics, cultivation techniques, climate and soil in the growing environment. Based on the results of field observations that have been made, Moringa plants in Pakandangan Sangra Village have not been cultivated optimally because based on the Moringa plants found, Moringa plants are only planted on land for climbing herbal chilies and used as land borders.
